ABOUT US
General
Glendowie Christian Kindergarten (affectionately known as GCK) delivers quality care and education for your child in the context of Christian principles. It has been that way since 1996!
We provide a programme of play and learning designed to encourage your child to gain the most from their early childhood years in a fun, warm and caring environment. Your child can begin at GCK at 2½ and we have nappy changing facilities available.
All children and families are welcome.
Children
We believe that all children have the right to a quality early childhood education. Their emotional and physical needs must be met at all times. The rate of each child's development is different, we acknowledge and plan for this by providing a developmentally appropriate programme around the needs of each child. We strive to ensure that children are happy in the safe, warm, caring environment which we provide. They are helped with solving conflict and are given praise and encouragement in times of need. Children are supported throughout these early years and encouraged to explore and take risks which challenge and stimulate them.
Our Vision
We strive for excellence in education where each child explores their God-given potential: intellectually, physically, spiritually and socially. Together with familiesand GPC we are building an incredible community where children are nurtured and loved.
Programme
Children may stay with us until they're 5, working their way through to our specially designed Four Year Old programme for children over 4. This is a dedicated mat time with specific interest-based and age appropriate activities/projects designed for preparing children for life and school.
At GCK your child can take their first steps towards independence in a safe and supportive environment, learning about friendship and companionship with others. We have a mix of teachers with varied experience and we operate to an enviable teacher to child ratio of approximately 1:8.
Families
All families are welcome at our kindergarten. Their participation in the care and education of their child is valued and welcomed. Their cultural uniqueness is celebrated and respected and their needs are met to the best of our abilities.
Teachers
Teachers work together consulting, planning and making decisions. We support each other in our professional life and show understanding in personal difficulties. We laugh and enjoy our time together but understand and respect the need for reflection, privacy and confidentiality.
